Facts About AP Incentive Program

The San Diego Unified School District Advanced Placement Incentive Program is a part of the AP Alliance (a group of schools, universities, colleges, community organizations, and businesses) working together to ensure that low-income and traditionally underrepresented students have equitable access to high quality Advanced Placement (AP) courses and support systems. The purpose of this project is to eliminate our AP academic achievement gap in the areas of Access, Enrollment, and Participant Success Rates.

This will be accomplished through the following goals, objectives, and activities:

  2. Increase the number of low-income and underrepresented students enrolled in AP/IB courses. Project activities include: student and parent outreach; a strong articulation component; enhance assessments and college readiness curricula; and ongoing cultural proficiency training for teachers and counselors who make AP recommendations.
  3. Increase the number of AP tests taken and passed by low-income and underrepresented students. Project activities include: Student support services; Higher education, community and business partnerships for mentoring, incentives and rewards.
